How IT STARTED
Built on Family Recipes & Community
Abeni African Foods began in 2022, during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. With everyone stuck at home and local options limited, friends and family started reaching out to our founder asking where they could find authentic African ingredients and grocery supplies. With numerous inquiries coming in, and out of her passion for business and African food, she decided to start Abeni African Foods. It started strictly through online orders, shared on local WhatsApp groups, forums, and other community platforms. By 2024, that word-of-mouth support had grown enough to open the first physical store, and the business grew steadily from there, one satisfied customer at a time.
